Persevering In Life Over Trial is more than an acronym for the name P.I.L.O.T. It's more of a mindset of an individual who's experienced pain in many aspects of his life. With origins stemming from the Mecca Of Music, Atlanta, Ga, Pilot is firmly in touch with his southern roots. Being from Southwest Atlanta a.k.a. the SWATS to be specific, is where he began his musical journey as an artist. Proudly following the lineage of pillars of southern hip-hop including T.I., Outkast, Eightball & MJG, Kilo Ali, UGK, and Young Jeezy. These artists collectively, along with other artist, have influenced his sound in one way or another. His musical style can be described as a cross between Outkast, Tory Lanez, and T.I. as far as lyricism, and cadence, combined with vocal harmonies, falsetto runs, and unique vocal layering to add a little “soul” to the mix. Boasting versatility unlike most southern rappers, Pilot the Wiseman has the ability to create gospel, reggae, R&B, pop, neo soul, and of course, the ubiquitous “trap muzik”.
It wasn’t until he joined the Navy that he decided that he wanted to pursue a music career. It was in Virginia, where he was stationed that he began to write and perform locally at venues around Norfolk. There is where he would meet Jordy ”J-Cool” Lambert and Chris Mooty, and B-Town. Collectively forming Final Destination Records. Shortly after, in 2008, Pilot and B-Town formed the musical group Mullage. They signed a record deal with an independent label in Atlanta, From The Ground Up inc., and before the ink could dry they would drop the Billboard Smash entitled ”trick’n”, which helped them garner national attention from major labels and the likes of T.I., who at one point took the group under his wing, and on tour. “Trick’n charted to #35 in 2009 on the billboard charts, with it's melodies and catchy phrases would usher in a new wave of sound. Mullage Mixapes: "Elevators", "This Is For The Radio", and "Believers Never Die".
With a resume filled with artist from the likes of Juvenile, T.I., Yo Gotti, T-Pain, Akon, Yung Joc, Young Dro, Beenie Man, and Wyclef, Pilot has definitely earned the respect of his peers and others who's experienced his musical genius. Determined to make a name as a solo act, Pilot has set out to inject his sound into the industry in hopes of creating his own legacy, similar to his Atlanta predecessors. Boasting multiple talents, he named songwriting and vocal arrangements as his strongest attributes. He also records his own records, which, he feels gives him an advantage over other artist. “Recording myself in real time allows me to maximize my creativity because it allows me total control of my creative process.”
With over 16 years experience in the music industry as a successful Songwriter, Artist, and Vocal Producer, Director Pilot The Wiseman is intent on illustrating his lyrical prowess as a writer while proving that his determination is a tool that can get anyone where they want in life.
